The latest Windows editions allow you to change the volume for individual applications, but it takes one extra click, which may be a bit too much in certain situations, like when the CPU or RAM is overused. Ear Trumpet provides you with volume sliders for each application, just like Windows, but it lets you access them faster. If the sounds from a certain application or game are louder then the music from your media player, you can use this application to balance the volumes on the fly.

Ear Trumpet is distributed as a freeware application, for Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10. It comes in a small package and it can be installed in no time. Apart from having one of the latest Windows versions, there are no special requirements you have to meet and you won't notice a significant impact on your computer's performance while the application is running.

There is not much to say about Ear Trumpet's functionality. Once it is up and running on your computer, you will find a new system tray icon. Clicking this icon will immediately reveal a series of volume sliders, for each running application that produces sounds. This includes media players, browsers, games and more.

To be clear, Ear Trumpet is not a replacement tool for the operating system's volume control feature. You can still find the default volume options in the system tray. In fact, if no sound-emitting applications are running, Ear Trumpet will display a message that it couldn't find any applications, instead of volume controllers. If you want to change the operating system's main volume, you will have to do it the old fashioned way.

Ear Trumpet gives you full control to decide which applications should be louder or quieter on your computer.

Pros

Ear Trumpet lets you change the volume for each application separately. It doesn't get in your way and it doesn't use too many resources. The software is free and you can have it up and running in a few seconds.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention.
